Dhading, Nepal, 20 May 2012- I am Kumari Tamang (23). My village lies in Bhumesthan Village Development Committee Ward no-2 at Baluwakharka. I have five members in my family. Due to the lack of awareness I did not join formal school and am the illiterate woman. One and half year before, Prayas Nepal staff Goma Tamang came to our village and she told us to organize one group. She made understand about the importance of group, then we involved in the group.  Before her, nobody came in our village and we did not have any idea about groups.

We have formed a community organization named Bhairabi Community Organization. I am working as a chairperson in this organization. Prayas Nepal and Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF) Kathmandu provided capacity development trainings and workshops for community people empowerment.  The most important change in my life is that now I am able to read and write. While I was selected as a chairperson of Bhairabi Community Organization I realized that I need learn read and write. Prayas Nepal staff Goma miss encouraged me and slowly and gradually I started to write and read. Now I can read and write. I would like to thank Prayas Nepal and PAF for creating opportunities for our community and me too.

While Prayas Nepal conducted book keeping and group mobilization training in our group then I came to know how to keep record properly and now I can prepare meeting minutes too. It's a big achievement for my life. Now my lifestyle is changed. Before Prayas Nepal program in our village my life was limited only in household chore. But now I am totally busy. Sometime I have to go bank, sometime I have to go participating the different programs. So my daily life seems to be very busy.

Now I can conduct group meeting myself. I can prepare reports too. I have learnt so many good things that helped me to change my lifestyle. Thank you Prayas. Thank you PAF.
